How much should I sell my 2010 Honda Civic for?

I have a 2010 Honda Civic whose tranny went out 3 years ago. I want to get rid of it! I was gonna fix it up, but I don't want to deal with the hassle. It has 156,000 miles on it, always got regular maintenance. I was the second owner. I bought it at 40,000 miles. How much should I sell it for?

Transmission doesn't work? Couple grand tops I'd imagine and that you might have to fight for. Easier to get rid of if someone can hop in and drive off. Don't take my word for it tho, I don't buy / sell / trade often.

Somebody's probably buying a nonrunning car to repair and flip. So, KBB private party value, minus 10-20% for their "profit", minus repair costs (you got a quote?), minus typical transportation costs (usually around $500) is probably a good starting point. They're going to try and talk you down from there.

Someone might want it for a manual swap... if it's a clean and doesn't need a lot on top of the transmission I don't see you having a hard time offloading it. Especially if it's a dry west coast car that's seen regular maintenance; it still has value--even more so if it's an EX or SI

I'd start AS-IS at $3000 and do a little haggling from there.

$3k is a little high but not crazy. Normal private party on a running 2010 Civic would be like $5k, so if somebody is going to DIY a transmission swap and already has a tow vehicle, spending $3k on the car would give them a fair amount of profit.

They'd still be trying to negotiate that down, of course.
