At this stage try to borrow a set. You're about 98% likely to quit within a month, so there's no point in buying. Only buy if you play several times, like it and want to continue.

Sometimes pawn shops have stuff, but usually I find grandpa's old blades in there. You can go to a major golf store in your area, Golfsmith and Golf Galaxy usually have a good supply of good used equipment. Plus there are websites like callawaygolfpreowned.com and taylormadegolfpreowned.com that sell good used equipment. Get some kind of game improvement iron that starts with a 5 iron and goes up to pitching wedge or gap/approach wedge and get a decent real forgiving driver--anything from Callaway, Taylormade or Cobra will do. Good luck and have fun.

Most courses will rent you a set if you cant borrow any. It's a good way to try out different clubs before you do buy some.

lol @ MotionMan, same thing I was thinking when I saw the thread title

well the thing is i only have one buddy that plays and he does not have any extra clubs to let me borrow. thats why i want to buy used to i can resell them if i end up quitting. i don't see myself quitting though.

also I'm right handed

another one of these thread.

how much should you pay for used clubs? between one and one billion dollars. /thread.

i'd recommend a set owned by jesus christ and then used by neil armstrong to play golf on the moon, after which they were blessed by the mathatma with moon rock dust and the ashes of muhammed.

I wouldn't pay more than $10,000 for a set of used clubs. But that's just me.
