how much should i pay for AC recharge?

How old is the system? If they have to use the Freon it will be REALLY expensive. If they have to convert it to R-134A(??) then you will have to pay for the kit(~20 bucks) and the labor to install it.

Besides removing the old oil and replacing it with PAG oil, also the reciever dryer needs to be replaced as well.

By the way, it's R-12 on the old systems 😉

I pay very little, because I can do it myself.

But $135 isn't bad if they include leak testing.

My car is a 1998 240sx

That would have the new refrigerant, R134a; which is about $7 a pound. Your system should take between 2 and 2.5 pounds, plus .6 to 1.5 hours labor, depending on the type of work being done.
