I have a nickel-sized star in my windshield. I have had a hard time finding out how much would be typical cost to fix this without insurance. A local independent guy said $45- that seemed high to me; I thought I remembered a friend paying $25 for his job a year or two ago.

Thanks!

25-45 isnt bad if it saves you a new windshield man. Tell him you can get it for 25 bucks in indy and see if he price matches it.

True true. I'll try that- do you know for sure I can get it done that cheap?

P.S.- here's the thread I finally started at bimmerfest about the 325e:

Your insurance company may pay for it at no cost to you - worth looking into.

Depends on how bad it is. Around here they charge 10$ for each time they have to drill and fill. If its a small chip then it only takes one, some will take 3 or so.

Manimal- Will do. I'm down in Metamora for a festival this weekend, but maybe the next.

Insurance: I only have liability at this time- I know Geico does free glass repair (probably saves them a bundle on swindles) but probably not for el-cheapo folks like me.

I got it done tonight. $45 it was- the owner was pretty dismissive of a pricematch, said I was getting a deal as it was. His tech did fine work, though.

I was gonna post this too. Wish I knew earlier. Paid for one once years ago, but found out in time for the more recent time.

I called Geico just to make sure- it's a comprehensive policy only benefit like I thought. They waive the deductible.
