BSBA in Marketing and Management out of public university, (Umass) great resume (lots of sales extensive work experience), awesome people skills (imho), and just got an internship for NECN (New England Cable News) as Marketing & Creative services position. Will be graduating in May 04.

I live in the northeast (around Boston) and I have absolutely no idea how much I'm about to earn... $30ks? $40s? even 50-60ks?

educate me on this from your personal experience my fellow ATOTers.

Expect nothing, so that you'll be happy with whatever you do make and not wind up being a bitchy little grad expecting to gross six figures in under two years.

:p

I would say 35-40k right out of college.

The only people I know that make 50-60k straight out of school are people who work for big financial firms (like Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs), and getting a job there is difficult owing to the stiff competition.

When should you start internship related to your major? Freshmen/Sophomore/Junior/Senior year in college?

*I* can tell you that from experience. I just spoke with the head of career services of my university. It is never too soon to seek internship, even freshmen year. Beef up your resume whenever you have the chance.

I've never had an internship just til now, first semester of senior year but fortunately I have a pretty good work experience to make up for it, although internship is where you can some real hands-on experience relating to what you want to do for life

Although it's a bit rough around the edges... That's actually excellent advice.

Get a job that you enjoy, and be thankful that you have one. There are thousands of other people in this nation who would love to be in your position.

While I might be cruel, sadistic, and brutally honest, I do have useful advice. :D

$10.00 per hour if your lucky, maybe more.

Be sure you do not get sucked into $30k per year Salary, and end up working 60+ hours a week.

60 x 52= 3,120 hours.

less than $10. per hour........

Best wishes in this sad job market. :(

Yup. I've even heard the $50k jobs of 2000 are now the $35k paying jobs of today (just ask the dude who was thinking of hooking up with Accenture). Sad but true.

This state of affairs won't last forever... It depends on when you graduate. If you graduate in maybe 2-3 years, I'm thinking everything will be more in your favor.
