my moms friend friend wants me to install a router

wants to know how much its going to cost, how much should i charge?

like 60? 80? 100?

$50 sounds right for just the router. Do you have to install 802.11x cards in all the systems in the house?

is this something that is getting hooked up to a cable/dsl modem?

anyway, i'd probably charge around $100 and say you'll come over for one free tech support visit then charge after that (because you WILL BE their tech support for life)

Tell her prices are all over though, say some pay "just" $50 while some will pay as much as $150

She won't want to be cheap or spend to much, she'll hopefully go for a hundred or around it

Oh, and are you a college student? If you are, tell her this goes towards helping pay for college bills

Dohhh... in this case 50 or 100 seems sufficient

Keep in mind the cost of the device you're installing, she probably spent less than $50 on the router.

It shouldn't take you any more than 30 mins to setup, IMHO $25 would be on the steep side. If it takes you an hour maybe $50.

$100 is highway robbery.

Yup, if she's a MILF, do the install for free. ;)

$50 max. I would think $30 if you know them.
Think about it from their point of view... they bought the thing for $100 ... does it seem right to you (even if you didn't know how to do it yourself) to charge the same price for the install fee ?

Hell, I bought a router/wireless card for $15 total.... $45 was full price. Took me less than 15 minutes to install it. I'd say $30 would be plenty cash for your time plus gas to get there.

where i work charges $125/hr with a minimum of one hour for light networking (which this is) so i still think $100 is fair
