im just going to ignore the last two post there either trolls or idiots trying to cause trouble. Just because I have lots of questions doesnt mean I crave the attention. It just means I am a beginner with no idea what hes doing. Do to all the help like I said I have changed my diet from all fruit to a high protein. Im taking suppliments now. And I have learned alot. The problem is when my questions are answered more come up and just like my sig states anandtech isnt great the people that make anandtech up are great thats why I come here for answers.

It isn't that you have a lot of questions, it is that you are ignoring the advice of the forums members who give you solid advice (the fact that you switched out all fruit to a 'high protein' just proves my point). Most, if not all of your questions have already been answered. If you are truly motivated in your fitness, you wouldn't solely look to ATH&F for all of your questions. I'll grant you that we have some astounding forum members whom provide great advice and are great people...but it should not be the single source of information.

There are MANY websites with forums and or advice columns that give the same information. Sure, the sea of information is astounding and perhaps overwhelming, but I can almost guarantee that the information given to most people about introducing them to fitness is somewhat universal (never mind fad diets)...which you have yet to listen to or absorb.

I am not ignoring the advice that is given. I changed to lower reps higher weights which was recommened I ordered weights that were recommened, I changed my diet to fit what I saw as a correct weight lifting diet. I even asked if my diet was correct in a different post to make sure I was eating correctly or I didnt miss read.

I am a little bit different then the rest of the people that start working out. I am trying to do it the right way but with less weights higher reps. Because of my back. Infact the only thing I ignored was to go see a physical therapist. And the only reason I ignored that is because I cant leave my house very well. I suffer from Depression. I suffer from exactly Bipolar depression and I am also a manic dep. If I try to leave me house I have bad panic attacks.
But other then that I have tried to follow what everyone has said.

So its obvious to me that you didnt read that many of my threads if you did you would be able to see that I have changed alot over the last 4 days. And I guarantee I will change even more over the next 3-7. After that most of my questions will be answered and I wont have to bug everyone on here for help anymore.

Its just new to me. And since its new I want to do it right. I even took the time to look up forms of weight training because they said if I did it wrong I could seriously hurt myself.

Now lets stop debating and get back to the thread please.

Hey dont feel bad when i started lifting i did every single day.. then found out oh ur suppose to do it every other day.. So i did it 3-5 times a day like 5 sets of 20 with about 70 pounds of weight.. Now i do it every other day with strong lifts and 2marro will do 115 5times then 120 5 times then 125 5 times then 130 5 times then 135 5 times (i can prob do 150 a few times but not sure im pretty weak)

My diet consists of lots of veggies lots of non-fat cottage cheese 1% milk fruit and tons of fish. (tunafish every other dya tho since it contains tons of mercury) and steak and chicken.. I used to worry about fat intake but ig uess its good to have some fat from meat so eating alot of meat too (not just fish)

Good luck..

Let me start by saying (and PLEASE pay attention here): it is always important to use proper form for any weightlifting exercise (or any exercise in general). It is easy to hurt yourself if you do not, but some injuries have stiffer consequences than others...such as your back. For instance, the deadlift is an awesome muscle-building exercise for the lower back (for those w/o back issues), but it can seriously mess you up if done incorrectly. I want to ask what exactly the problem is with your back, but even if I knew I wouldn't be qualified to give you any advice on exercises to improve your situation. It's possible that some exercises could really help, and it's also possible that they would just make the problem worse...even the bench press you're doing now.

Hmm...lol. I started this post to answer your question "What can I do to increase the muscle mass in my lower back", but I've talked myself out of it. Well, shoot...go ahead and tell us if you can: do you know exactly what your "bad back" issue is? Stress on your back because of your weight? Any injuries?

I can't offer any advice different than what Turin39789 said, other than: for any exercises you attempt, since you are new and doing them yourself, take a few minutes to research the proper form online. Perhaps look up videos that specifically point out correct form.

Thanks for the advice. Ive actually looked up videos of proper bench pressing. Keep arms at shoulds spots bend 45 degrees lower to your nipples. Since I started doing it this way my shoulder def doesnt hurt as much ty for your advice. Its much appreciated.

My exact problem with my back is I have 4 hernated disk in the l4-5 area of my spine. my doctor said I could work out as long as the weights dont agitate by back. Bench pressing doesnt agitate my back at all to very little.
