p4 2.6 gig 800MHZ bus. intel 875p motherboard

how much ram for normal usage, light gaming, some video watching, and prob. record a few shows with a TV tuner card and CD->MP3 ripping.

why such a good computer?

for fun, and i got a really good deal

it was the dell dimension deal from a few weeks ago

after ebaying a few parts, coupon, rebate i got a system that is currently $1059 (including radeon9800) for under 300 without the video card

well it depends on how much video editing and what kind of games you want to play

but i'm sure that most editing proggies will eat up at least 512, prolly 1gb even

not video editing. video 'usage' (I assume he means just playing videos ;))

512 if you got the money. 256 still runs everything okay, and is the standard for basic systems nowadays.

1 gig will cover all your needs and anything else you may consider doing in the future like Graphic Editing and Video Editing.
