how much ram is enough for windows xp?

i have 256 crucial ddr ram right now, but adding another 256 will it make a difference??

i am running a amd duron 1gig, ECS K7S5A mobo..

If you can afford it go ahead, memories cheap, you probably won't notice much speed up though.

I think 256 is ok but I do notice slowdowns sometime. Another 256 will help but don't expect miracles.

I went from 256 to 512 myself on the same board & while the change was not dramatic it did smooth things up quite a bit.

I recommend getting it because 512megs in XP is very nice.
