Im gonna build a computer for my bro, basically playing games, editting movies and music. I wanna build a P4 3.06GHz and some new sound & video cards, just wonder how much for the power supply that I need for my system? 350W/400W/450W...??
TIA

silentpcreview says that the p4 3.06ghz cpu takes 82W of power ON AVERAGE. the max should be much higher than that. i would definitely pick a brand name psu with strong rails and at least 200 on the 3+5v rails.

CPU draws power only from the 12V line.

My rig consists of a P4-2.8ghz, 1gb DDR, 9700 PRO, 2 optical drives, 2 hd's, TV tuner, Audigy, about 6 USB devices, etc... All on a 250w power supply.

It's all about quality, not quantity.
