I'm interested in A new pc but unsure of how big of a PSU needed:

nvidia 780i
3-8400gs cards
3g kingston hyperX 4cls DDR2 800
Q6600
cpu fan w/ hinksink
120mm front and back fans

No OC'ing just mulitple apps/monitors for 2-D work but will be running this thing for about 6-8hrs/day.

Also, has anyone heard anything about Avadirect.com I may have them build it for me.

Why are yo going with 3 8400s? Do you really need more then 4 monitors running?

Your proposed configuration doesn't need anything too big. A good quality 450W PSU will be more then enough for the system. Even the 380W Antec Earth Watts will be plenty for that system.

I am pretty sure the 8400GS will not work in Tri-SLI....only the 8=9800GTX, 8800GTX and 8800 Ultra work in Tri-SLi

NOT interested in in SLI or OC, but 3 pci'e slots for multiple monitors. YES, I want the capability for 6 LCD's. I'm currently running 4 for trading. I was thinking 680i SLI b/c it has 3-4 pci-e slots but i'm not sure its 45nm ready if I ever want to upgrade the cpu

I think you have chosen the right motherboard for the job. Like you said the 680 chipset has some issues with the 45 nm chips. So the 780i is the better option. But like i said you really don't need allot of power. In your case the 3 8400s are your best option. I don't know of any other solution that would be as affordable.
