My wifes 2000 Lexus rx300, is geting old, with a aby on the way i thought i'll add some cool stuff for her.

I bought her:
GPS - Iway500c
XMRADIO
X10 Cameras which i'll add a screen so when she goes Reverse she can be more secure.
Ipod charger + audio cables.

All audio right now will be with an adapter from the casette. I bought a 4in1 input cable from radioshack to connect all audio to the main speakers.

The question is how much power can I use from the cigarette lighter? Or who does installs like this to be ran from the main power instead with an adapter.

15A or so.

With old "bussman" style glass fuses you could get well over 30A by replacing the fuse with a .22LR cart. After about 20 minutes the charge goes off and despite most of the energy being lost due to no chamber and barrel, the slug still manages to "take out" a testicle. The end result causes you to lose control (on a bridge no doubt) and you plummet into a river below and lose a day's catch.

NEVER jump a fuse or replace standard one with larger value. It's dangerous!

Hell yeah it is- this is ATOT where the kiddies are hopelessly trendy. About 3 months ago a G35 was considered "money", but just last week I heard people saying how they don't want one because it's "played out".

G35 is technically "played out" but its still a bad ass car and I still can't afford one.... 😉😀

okay your ligter socket can hold 10-15 amps max of 150 watts.
You cna plug your Ipod charger and the GPS into the thing, but the screen and camera are better hard wired.

Since you are buying that much stuff for her get her one of those thingys when the car battery dies you can connect it to the cig lighter and it charges in 20 minutes.

Tell her to use the fvcking rear view. Otherwise an inverter to power it all or a DC_>DC PSU (opus) and just put a computer in (easy). That way you can run cameras< MP3s, DVDs, and sat navigation.

You're better off with jumper cables. Either way you need to hook it up to their car.

Don't do the stuff through the casette adapter, messy wires and all, my mom did it for ages. Get an Ipod ready CD deck, or an FM transmitter thingies you can pick up for the ipod and they will broadcast to your radio.

Or, if you want you can get a minijack to RCA adapter and plug it into the rear end of the stock deck.

WTF would be the point of an ipod. By the time he gets a screen (which he wants anyway) he is halfway to a PC in the car which can provide the camera views, MP3s and navigation at the touch of the screen(or voice). A wifi card and he can transfer songs and updates from the garage.

Unless Ipods have come down in price since I last looked.
