How much physical work/damage can I do to mobo?

So I have a MSI P7N SLI board, and I just purchased a GTX 260 card. The card will not fit because I have a cd-in connector for an external audio port just outside and slightly below my pci 2.0 slot. My question is, can I remove that connector so that my video card will fit? I don't plan on using it, but I have never done such trauma to a motherboard before. Thanks for your help.

As long as you remove it with class and do it in a clean fashion, the motherboard will be none the wiser. :)

Just be sure you don't leave ANY metal shavings or clippings from the protruding prongs laying around on top of the board. If they were to connect any pair of contact points on the motherboard, they could easily short something out.

Good luck,

I got medieval with some wire cutters and needlenose pliers, and we are up and running baby! I can't believe how big that GTX 260 is!
