Hi,
I have an Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook bought back in 2005 I am wondering how much improvement in performance would I realistically get with a new Inspiron. Can you help me?

My inspiron 6000 is the Pentium M 1.86GHZ, 2 MEGB, 533FSB with 2GB of RAM.

I was thinking of getting the new Inpiron 1520 with Intel® Core? 2 Duo T5450 (1.66GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache) and 2GB of RAM also.

I work a lot of photoshop and dreamweaver. I always have several applications open at the same time including Outlook.

So, how much performance improvement would I really feel with the new computer?

Thanks so much for helping.

well if you didnt mention photoshop or dreamweaver i would have said no way, its not worth the updgrade. but, since you did, if you can afford it (easily) then yeah, it would be a pretty significant boost in performance. again though, if youre going to lose more then a couple hundred doing the upgrade then i dont think its worth it....

i think ram would be the most important part to the things listed, not so much the cpu. how much is the new inspiron? i don't think it would be worth the upgrade but if you have loose cash sitting around, go for it.

will a desktop work? there's a pretty loaded quad-core system for $765 in Hot Deals (at CompUSA)
