How much performance do I lose going from GF4 Ti4200 to GF3?

Using an Athlon XP 1700+, how much performance would I lose downgrading to a stock GF3 from a GF4 Ti4200? Would games such as F1 Challenge 99-02 remain as smooth on max settings as before, or would the difference in speed be visible with the naked eye?

My quick answer would be, it depends on the resolution you play games at, and which effects you enable. To get a better answer, it would help to know which GF3 in particular you are downgrading to. I believe there were different versions of the GF3, as there are with the GF4.

As the previous pointed out, it depends on the iq settings, games, etc... But yes, if you set max iq settings, I would image there would be visible differences. How much will depend on the scenario/environment.

I only play at 1024x768 32bpp on my XP1700+....
Its a Ti200, but overclockable to stock GF3 (the OLD GF3) levels...

How does that affect ur answer?

Just curious why you'd downgrade... I'd say it's not really worth it, unless you're getting the GF3 for free, in which case I'd just keep the Ti4200 and sell the GF3.

why are you downgrading also do you have a geforce4 ti4200?? or a geforce3 ti200??? You original post says 4200 and 2 posts later says ti200

He saying his GF3 is Ti200, and he currently is using a GF4 Ti4200. Which, BTW, going to a Ti200 from a Ti4200 is like going from a big V8 to a weedwacker engine. You will definitely notice slower gameplay, even at 1024.

I need some extra money that's why Im thinking of the downgrade...

Mow a lawn. If you sell your ti 4200 for 60 - 70, and buy a ti200 for 40 - 50 you have only made 10 - 20 and had a huge downgrade

cut someones grass or dig for some pop cans, or work a couple more hours next week....

I understand needing extra money but that just sounds stupid for the 10$ you might make

I think it will depend largely on the game. OpenGL games should run smoother on the 4200, but a GF3 still handles them well unless you crank up the AA.

I mean yes it is a downgrade, but the GF3 is still a viable card for games that are out there right now, i.e., not the upcoming releases such as HL2.

It won't be too bad...

I built a system for a friend, P4 2.4b@3ghz and he can run @ 1280x1024 UT2k3 will fluet gameplay...

GF3 was a hell of a chip..
