it is the warmest in the north, correct?

so if it snows, it seems like it would have to be on a mountain in the southern part

isn't the climate pretty mild?

Do they have cheez-it's in Australia? And if so, do the holes go clockwise or counter-clockwise?

It's snow's pretty much every winter in the Kosciusko National park and Snowy mountains in NSW and the highlands in Victoria, usually from late june to late september....I believe it also snow's in the highlands of Tasmania.

other than that....what's snow?

the east coast is in the middle of the worst drought in recorded Australian history at the moment....we haven't had any decent rainfall in about 5 years, Sydney and Brisbane are starting to have major water shortages and most of our man made lakes on the east coast are below 30%.

Where I live in south west NSW, I haven't seen any rain in the last 3 years...all we are getting now when it looks like it's going to rain are droplets of dust.

Most of NSW and QLD are on some form of water restrictions....however it does snow in Australia...breifly

What he said really. There's a large ski/snowboard business in Aus, so it snows extremely regularly in those places Stumps mentioned. I would imagine that it is similar in the US, you need a combination of high altitude and low temperature and where those things meet, you get annual snow that lies on the ground ;)

Unless you count a light dusting on the Stirling Ranges most years, it never actually snows/lies on the ground in WA tho, we don't have any land high enough or temperatures low enough...
