Like the Seagate Momentus XT (ideal) or the newer 5400RPM drives which are a little slower (but still likely better than her old drive) and dead silent. I am trying to get her used to win 7. Her system has a 2gb stick of DDR3 1333, so I might just get her a 4gb stick to bring her up to 6gb.

She has a 250gb SATAII 7200rpm hdd.

That 6GB RAM works in hybrid dual-channel mode, too! dual-channel for the 2+2GB portion, single-channel for the remaining 2GB. It works great and can't beat 1-3% free performance.
