How much of a hit do you take when enabling antisopric (sp?) filtering?

Question in the title. I have been playing around with it, and notice a HUGE difference in the clarity of objects in the distance. I don't really need 100,000,000 FPS and would like the quality more. But I was just wondering how much of a difference there would be.
