I have a Core i7 920 running stock 2.66GHz, GTX 580, 30" Dell LCD.

Would I see a decent FPS gain in games if I OCed my i7 to 3.5GHz?

The difference is typically noticeable in minimum frame rates and overall smoothness, however it depends on what resolution you're playing at typically. High resolutions are less likely to show gains. Being that your CPU only Turbo's to I think 2.8ghz you'd definitely notice a difference in more than just gaming.

I would not recommend using an OC that requires much added voltage though. Better to keep your CPU healthy than risk degradation. A conservative OC is best.

Depends entirely on the game. Most 3d shooters are likely not maxing out your CPU as it is, so they'd gain nothing, while for example SC2 would probably gain linearly, or 33%.

It really depends on the game you're playing. Not many games are CPU-bottlenecked, with SC2 and Civ 5 really being the exceptions. Although, I know somebody with an "old" high-end gaming rig with a Core 2 Quad Q6400 and he has no problems with either game. Realistically you might not notice much of a difference.

I don't have either so I can't speak from experience, sorry.
