Work PC has been behind for a very long time. When they do the "tech refresh" the PC's are usually a little ahead of the curve, but not much. Then 3mo's later they are way behind.

I have a TPAD w/ PII 366 and 192MB RAM and Win2k. It's maybe 1.5yrs now? It feels SOOOO Slow, but, I don't play games on it so it's not horrible.

I've got a TBird 650 w/ 768MB Ram, Win98SE. The big difference is the HDD speed, 7200 RPM vs like 4000RPM for the laptop drive makes ALL the difference.

I was using a Celery 850MHz but I gave that to my wife so I could play with AMD stuff. I've also got a few other machines that aren't being actively used right now, Celery 450, Dual PII300. I'm feeling the urge to upgrade but nothing's out that I want that I "need" to upgrade.

DUAL 17" monitors

There's not a whole lot of difference between my systems speed wise except my graphics card at home is faster. However, my work PC has dual monitors and I absolutely love that. I used to have a nice 21" monitor here at work, but I traded it with my boss who wanted it in exchange for duals. In the place I used to work I had to 2 computers with DUAL 21" MONITORS. You talk about desktop area . . .

Home PC: Abit KT7A, Duron 750, Geforce2 Ultra, 192MB RAM, Win98SE, 20GB HD, 19" monitor, 56x CD-ROM, 4/8/32 CDRW, 56k dialup

WorkPC (main): MicronPC PIII 1GHz, Nvidia TNT2, 768MB RAM, NT 4.0, 60GB HD, 22" monitor, 48x CDROM, T1 line

WorkPC (secondary): Compaq Presario Athlon 1.4GHz, Nvidia Geforce2 MX, 1GB RAM, NT 4.0, 60GB HD, 19" monitor, CDRW, T1 line

I use some numerical computer models that requires intensive number crunching, hence the high end systems here at work. :)

My home PC is a PIII 700 hooked up to a 768/128 DSL line. My work PC is a Pentium 90 hooked up to a T1, which gets comprable download speeds compared to home, and about 700kbps uploads. The CD-Rom is a 3 cd changer that is broken, it has a combo 3.25, 5.25 drive, an an HP Corrado tape drive in it. Also a 14" monitor.

My work PC isn't a radiator like my home PC is (PIII vs. Athlon 1.4). Living in Florida with huge-ass electricity bills, I wonder why I built an Athlon rig.
