How much of a difference is there between CL 3 and CL 2.5 RAM

Suppose you have the exact same type of RAM, only one is CL 3 and the other is CL 2.5 how much of a perforamce difference is there?
I want to know, since there's quite a big price difference between the two I'm considering, so I need to know if the CL 2.5 is really worth the extra $$$

For AMD I heard any RAM below the 2.5 mark is not too good performance wise. I am not sure about that claim and I would like to see benchmarks.

anyway what RAM you talking about? DDR1/2? Which CPU? AMD/Intel?

I'm talking about A64 3000+ winchester on nForce4 board with DDR1...

The performance difference between CAS 2.5 and CAS 3 is measurable in benchmarks such as Sandra mem bandwidth, but probably not perceptible in everyday system performance.

If you're an overclocker, that measurable difference in performance may be offset by achieving higher stable FSB/HTT frequency - or allowing overclocked operation without the requirement of using the memory divider for stable RAM operation.

Hope this helps!
