How much of a difference is there between agp ports vs pci express?

EDIT - So what's the best price you guys have seen on the 6800gt (agp)




I'm currently running a crappy Radeon 9600se card and I need something with more muscle to run the current crop of games. (GTA:SA, HL2, MW: Oblivion, etc..) Would a better video card handle those games at the highest resolutions or should I invest in a new mobo with pci express ports?

 
Depending on your processor, you might need to change that too if you went PCI-e.

It might end up being more like a whole new system if you went PCI-e.

For a particular card AGP vs PCI-e doesn't really make a difference, so it's not like a PCI-e 6800gt is going to blow away an AGP 6800gt.

If you have the budget for it, switching to PCI-e and possibly a new processor would be nice, but if you just want to upgrade the videocard then sticking with AGP is a good option too.
