How much of a bottleneck is a AMD 2700 when paired with a 6800GT?

Been trying to prolong the life of my computer. Hoping to do this till around 06 where I will do a major upgrade to conincide with ut2k7 and longhorn. I'm a little concerned though that getting a 6800gt will only end up being something I regret.

Dude....wait that UT2K7 come out..and get a 6800gt....this is just a waste atm beleive me.I am a user of a 6800gt and i can say i regret investing that much money for the performance i gain vs my old 9800 pro

Wait dude wait...no need to invest now...By the time ut2k7 is out..the 6800gt will cost you 150$

i own a gf 4400 currently. i would think getting a 6800gt would be some type of improvement. i don't think ive ever played a game with AA on. It would be nice to actually be able to do it

maybe get a 6600 gt to hold you over? they're about $160. you'd be able to play any game this year at 1024x768 perfectly fine.

cant say i regret buying my 6800 GT for this 2700+ processor 😀

however i do get the same dips in fps as i got with my 9800 pro, but being able to crank the aa and af and resolution with zero fps hit is great. i am however, moving to a athlon 64 3200+ soon.

Go for it man! I'm upgrading my 4200 to a 6800 (newegg refurb for $148). Can't wait for aa/af 🙂
