7 series haven't sold at the $300 since summer of 06. If you bought a 7600GT AGP at Circuit City or BestBuy and paid full retail + 20% + extended warranty -- well, sorry. Unless by 'not long ago' you mean over 2 years -- 2 + years is forever in computer hardware terms.

9600GT and 8800GS can be had for a hair over $120 online. Midrange video cards don't drop below $100 until they're 2-3 generations old and worse than current generation low end, typically. How cheap do you want to see them?

People on ebay tend to bid up useless stuff to insane levels. Enthusiasts are more in the know, and are less likely to pay top dollar for junk. I'd say ebay.

Idiots on ebay can always be counted on to buy what you might call useless, I actually see people bid 5%+ for a giftcard. Card's worth 100 at a certain franchised store, they bid 105 and pay for shipping.
Also people often buy older cards, not sure how much you'll get but 7 series isn't too old.

Yup makes it tough for informed buyers to good prices on used hardware, cuz the informed sellers can all find better offers on ebay

edit: see the post above mine for direct proof! :brokenheart:

well about two years ago 7900GT was around $345, and the price dropped quite dramatically when 8800gt came out. and yeah 7900gt doesn't worth much, I have seen people selling it for $40-60 on ebay or any BST forum.

What kind of price drops do you want?

9600GT newegg is as low as $149

8800GT (512) newegg is as low as $200 - $209

A few months ago the 8800GT 512 was retailing for around $260 - $300

A month ago the 9600GT was retailing for around $180

Now both can be picked up for quite a bit below retail suggested price from Nvidia.

Don't got about the 8800gs :D. It's great and can overclock to 8800gt levels.

Snagged mine for 118 after MIR.
