How much more can America do?

What do you think? How much longer is it going to be before America HAS to take a step back and realize that it needs to fix itself before it can help anyone else? I know most people realize this already, but how long will it be before we are forced into such a situation? By situation, I mean pulling back major armed forces and monetary support that we are currently providing to other countries. America is currently helping to support so many other countries, but in the midst of doing so, America is starting to crumble under the weight.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way. Let's see what you guys think.

When it destroys itself. People are so set on being the superpower, and being able to help everyone that it will keep going until a massive economical upheavel. Than in the midst of a depression, the rest of the world will be seen as a scapegoat (We helped you but you do not help us).

When the rest of the world stops knocking on our door for aid everytime a tree falls over.

That's exactly what I mean. I understand that America is the "emblem of freedom" to the rest of the world, but we could very well end up losing the freedom we have fought to hard to keep by responding to every call for aid imaginable. When is enough enough? I just wonder if it isn't time for America to slow down on the whole "world liberation front" and start being a little more concerned about ole number one. I honestly hate the oppresion that many people and countries are faced with, but pretty soon, we won't be able to help anyone, including ourself.

I say better to expend our hegemony on increasing the number of free societies in the world in a balanced manner (balanced so as to not overextend) than to retreat to greater isolationism... we live pretty good here anyway.

In fact I think we ought to do more to repair our somewhat damaged image.

Do realize the history of the word hegemony? Maybe I'm mistaking you for someone else..... Aren't you right wing?

First off, I would recommend reading some material outside of what they taught you in school and show on FOX
Start off with these links and then start googling words like america support dictorship, or cut aid from democratic gov to support dictators etc, throw in Africa,South America, Middle East etc

Amnesty International

Arms Trade Resource Center

The more you learn, the more your going to start to question and doubt.

I do acknowledge that America has it's problems and that it is not perfect. But that doesn't mean that other countries don't look at America as an example of freedom. We may have our problems, but I think they're rather small compared to those of many other countries.
