I am looking to buy all of my parts excluding external parts and the case and drive near Chrstmas only because that's when I will get money. I am looking to spend about $1100 on the internal parts. Here is what I have listed.

-Asus A8N-SLI Premium MOBO-$200
-HIS X700Pro video card-$235
-OCZ 1024mb RAM-$127
-AMD 64 3500+ CPU-$260
-WD 200gig SATA2 HDD-$145
-Windows XP-$83

I was wondering with the new ATI cards coming out and other stuff being released how much you might expect to pay for this when I do. (Around Christmas) Also if they might come on Sale. All I want is what you think I will Pay.

Well, since my grandma lives in Franklin, OH, I will give you the following advice:

-Get rid of the SLI motherboard. ATI cards don't work in SLI anyways.
-Get a card that games well like a 6800GT or X800XL.

Also, if you are not buying until Christmas, wait until fall and see what is out and what they prices are.






 
Wow Franklin is like our neighbor city. I was thinling about getting a 6800gt and will do now sense you say it's better. I do like the Mobo I choos so I'm not sure about getting rid of that.
 
Drop that SLI board and pick up a cheaper one. A really nice one should only cost like $150 max. That HIS X700 Pro is also a huge ripoff. $180 will get you a 6600GT, which blows the X700 away. However, with the money you save from the mobo, you can get an X800XL. The 6800GT only slightly outperforms the X800XL, but it costs quite a bit more. The X800XL is an excellent bang for your buck.

With the Nvidia card that is faster than two 6800 GT Ultras, I would just get this:

Asus A8N-E nForce4 $135.00

 
I am going to get a non SLI board and a x800xl now. How much do you think It will cost in a couple months?
 
Don't buy parts before you can use them, prices will go down and you will feel stupid.

Don't decide now, in 6 months the "sweet spot" for what parts offer the best price / performance will change on you.
