What is an average amount you are willing to gamble during a visit to a casino? What games do you play?

When I'm strapped for cash....about $20, and at the roulette tables that usually pays for the trip in returns....

Otherwise, a couple hundred bucks...

I don't think I've ever gambled away more than $30 at the casinos. Even though I earn a good buck, I'm cheap when it comes to gambling. Over time, you lose money, so I just prefer to pee away as little as I can. It is fun to gamble, mind you, but the losses mount up too quickly.

I have a limit every time I go, its not a lot $200, but that's my limit. Las Vegas trips top out at around $300 total, so with a $200 cap at the gambling, I have enough left over for some fun. Typically, I don't spend that much at the tables, but it is my limit.

It all depends on where you're talking about. I'm in CT, and at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos, you'd be lucky to find a $10 blackjack table. On the weekends, they're mostly $25 tables.

I play $20 units starting with a $200 bankroll. Sometimes I play craps (doey-don't system, with $10 units, $20 come odds).

I usually go with around 100 dollars. I try to find the cheapest blackjack tables that I can find (usually $10) and sit there as long as I can. The great thing about the casino I usually go to is that there is a sports bar-type area with video blackjack for $1 and as long as you're playing one of the video gambling games, the drinks are free.

here is what I do. I start with $30.00

Go to the roulette table and play the 2x1 odds.

put down $5.00 - if I win I let it ride, if I loose, put down another $5.00
eventually I will hit two wins in a row before my $30.00 is up - that puts me at $30.00 that I won, I pocket that money and then play with the casino's money. I keep the $30.00 I am playing with even at all times and anything over goes in my pocket, I play until that $30.00 is gone. sometimes I will walk away even, sometimes I will walk away way up, and other times I am extremly stupid and walk away minus $30.00. I have played for 8 hours on $30.00 - the point is knowing when to quit, if you loose that $30.00 and you have the $30.00 in chips sitting in your pocket I know how very tempting it is to grab ito ut of your pocket and play more - you just can not do this.

I am going this weekend - I am going to play craps though - just tried it last weekend and loved it.

Usually go to the local indian casino with $500 or so on me, with up to an additional $600 available through the atm (the secret is hitting it both before and after midnight so the $300 limit doesnt stop you.) I'm mostly a blackjack player, usually play at $25 min, pitch tables. And with a little roulette mixed in when I'm feeling stupid, red inside is where its at, with a little green inside too if I'm doing good.

another way to look at it (how I explain gambling to the people who are against it and think it is such a waist of money.)

You go in with $30.00

You drink about 6-7 drinks - ($25.00 at least if you had to buy them)
you have 3-5 hours of fun - (cant really put a price on fun)
you eat - (normal buffet is around $14.00)

at every casino I have gone to I have yet to pay for a meal or a drink - they comp them all. now if you lost the $30.00 you came in with you still drank $25.00 (at least) worth of drinks, ate $14.00 worth of food which toals to $39.00, and you also had fun for a few hours. If you look at it that way you are $9.00 ahead.

Just make sure to never gamble more then you plan to eat or drink and you will always come out ahead :)

Exactly, that's what people don't understand. It's entertainment. Sure it kinda stings if you lose a lot, but it was a fun night out. Everything costs money these days, you're just paying for some entertainment, a night(well usually into the next morning) out with the boys, free food, free drinks.... The comps that come with playing are nice too, granted they won't make up for all you're losses, but you get some nice perks...Good seats/free tickets to shows, free rounds of golf, free hotel rooms...

You have to look at it as entertainment, if you win, its a bonus, if you don't it kinda sucks, but no big deal. If you're gambling more than you can afford, you have no place being in a casino in the first place.

I'm going to Tunica, MS in a couple of weeks. Nice casinos considering they're in the middle of nowhere. Once you are inside, it is just like Vegas.

Qewlb and goldboyd said it all, not in their gambling methods but in their attitudes.

On a trip I budget $100 a day to gamble but rarely lose that much. In Kansas City I want several times a week with $20 and usually came out with more. Remember the longer you stay the more the house has the advantage.

Entertainment, perks and comps are what it is all about.

I quit gambling and now only play. For me, the difference between gambling and playing is about $3,500 a night. Nowmy bankroll for a weekend is $500, no credit cards, no checks, and no lines of credit. In Las Vegas, folks, the casinos pay for ALL of the overhead with what they make off of the slot machines alone - employee payroll, food and beverage costs, advertising, utility bill, mortgage notes, ad infinitum. Imagine what they are truly netting. Mind blowing, eh?

Edit: Blackjack, roulette, blackjack, craps, blackjack... :)

I've been there a few times. I always tend to get my money's worth in drinks whether I win or not.

There's a WAR table at the Sheraton...Anyone ever played WAR at a casino? The table wasn't running while I was in there (middle of a weekday), but the cover was on there and the rules were posted.

I'm pretty sure there's a WAR table at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut too. The table's been full a bunch of times when I've gone so people must enjoy it I guess.
