How much memory is eaten up by using 2/4/8x AA on a 1080p monitor? I don't currently find AA very useful on my monitor and usually have it turned off. I would imagine if you don't use AA you could probably go to higher resolution easier (in general) as you would have more RAM for frame buffer (as well as higher performance in the lower resolution), correct?

It's not just about the graphics card's memory, but also the processing power of the GPU. We'd need to know the game, resolution, and other settings that you play at to make a good recommendation.

Generally speaking, turn everything up as high as you can before you start getting choppiness. Resolution should be run at your monitor's max at all times unless your video card can't handle it.

Not much. IIRC 8xMSAA uses about 50 or 60MBs.

Don't quote me on that.

I'm serious, don't.

You can test it yourself if you have an nVidia card with Rivatuner or EVGA Precision (not sure if it works on non EVGA cards)
