I wouldnt be suprised it if happens soon...

Dad trying to teach a kid to ride a bike, kid falls off, hurts himself, dad sues for emotional damage.

bah.

I'm more worried about someone passing a law that bans people under 18 from riding a bike w/o full body armor, reflectors, headlights, and glowing clothing.

what i wanna know is when is someone going to die from a heart attack watching one of those scary flash pop up movies.

When that starts happening, it will become a federal mandate that all children become bubble-children. Each bubble will have its own atmosphere (can't let the kids breathe on each other), food dispenser (they might swap food. Can't allow that), and water purification system. The bubble will also be impervious and automatically act as birth control.

You mean like what Fausto wears?

I don't know, most bikes come with disclaimers and proper riding instructions. I'm sure the bike company's lawyers would be able to defend on those grounds. Especially since most states require children under a certain age to wear helmets...

you say that like it's a bad thing. I'm all in favor of it. bike + young=stupid/dead

It would be fairly difficult for that type of lawsuit to win b/c there is an implied consent to the normal-type of injuries that would result from these types of activities. However, if the bike was poorly designed or if its parts were defective, there is a possible cause of action under products liability.

I rode a bike from the time I was 5 until I got my driver's license and never so much as wore a helmet. I never once had a head injury or broken bone.

You're pretty lucky 🙂

I never had a head INJURY so to speak but I have gotten a couple bumps there from wet train tracks and the like. I've gotten hit by two cell-phone talking morons, little damage to me but they messed up my bike. I once T-boned another cyclist (it was at least 50% his fault, he just came flying out of a driveway into the road without looking or stopping) going nearly 20mph, broke a finger and did something to my left shoulder cause it still isn't 100% healed. My last accident on my bike was out of stupidity, I went way too fast in a curve and my tires were overinflated so my front tire slipped and I ended up going backwards and fell. I hurt my wrist but didn't break anything, but I bent my back rim :frown: Since then I got my car and winter came so I haven't been biking since 🙂
