How much longer do I have until I'm completely bald?

In the last 12-14 months I have lost about 50%-60% of my hair. The odd thing about it is that my hairline hasn't receded yet but the number of hairs per square inch on my noggin have become quite sparse.

So how much longer do you think I have until I'm completely bald?

Are there any ways to regrow hair besides Rogaine or Propecia?

Thanks,

You probably have until next Wednesday, Friday at the latest. ;)

Seriously, if you're to save what you have, you need to start on one of the treatments you mentioned now.

Well let me use the old balding formula. Lets see, approx 55% of hair lost, divide that by the change of time which is approx 13 weeks, etc, etc, etc...
The final answer is:
Umm... Better put a plastic bag over your pillow tonight.

You can't slow down, stop or reverse balding. I have a friend that compleately lost all his hair at the age of 32, he have try many method and ten of thousands of $ later with no result except for a scared dome due to hair implant. Just accepted it as part of yourself and move with life worrying about it is not going to keep those hair on your head.

Not true at all. A good friend of mine was losing his hair and a prescription of Propecia saved his hairline. He no longer wears baseball caps.

Now this is a fight worth fighting for. Rogaine does work, but it's a big if. Good luck.

DUDE!!! If you have lost that much hair in that short of time I think you should get it checked out. I don't know but that just seems like A LOT for that amount of time

See a doctor first, balding that fast isnt typical of male pattern baldness. Christ, sounds like malnutrition.

Whoa, that seems really fast to have lost 50-60% of your hair!!! Go see a doctor as soon as you can.

Dirf- Um, where do you get your facts.

Typical male pattern baldness typically lasts YEARS not months.

I have had friends that claimed med saved their hair line, but it seemed to me that their hair keep on receding every time I see them.
And, for the guy that I mentioned earlyer...he "completely" lost all his hair including eyes lashes and eyes brows. I don't know if he lost all his hair down below too or not...but he seem to have no armpit hair.He started to notice hair lost at the age of 23/24, and by the age of 28 he gave up the futile fight for his hair, because he have lost most of his hair and have spends over $60 000 on remedy that didn't help.

I agree that 50% is a considerable amount of hair that I have lost. But I am quite sure it is not due to malnutrition.

My 50% loss means that I have lost every-other hair on my head. It's not that 1/2 of my head is bald; it's just 1/2 as dense as before.

See a doctor, especially if baldness/thinning doesn't run in the family. In my case, both run in my family and I started going bald at 17 years old. Just too years more than my paternal grandfather. Now bald is beatiful. ;)

Bald may be beautiful if you look like Bruce Willis or some other dude with a great cut-of-the-jib but I look like Pee Wee Herman and I promise you that losing my hair will not improve my looks.

Malnutrition is what did it to me. I moved out too young and could only afford to eat once every couple days. I drank a lot of mountain dew and smoked a lot of cigarettes. I haven't had much hair loss since, but I'll never have hair like I used to. I still have hair on most parts of my head, but up top I don't have much and I have a nice 2-3 inch baldspot in the back. Check with your doctor, to me I didn't care much and just let it be.

I can feel for you edprush. I started losing my hair in my mid twenties. Now I just have a few sparse strands up there. I looked into various options to save it or slow it down. In the end I decided that I had better things to spend my money one. Loosing your hair is not the end of the world. There are even some advantages to it.

- Shampoo last longer
- Some women actually prefer it
- Dries really fast when you get out of the shower
- No more bed head

I keep my hair fairly short and think it looks fine. Of course I look more like Bruce Willis then Pee Wee Herman ;).

BTW Stress is just going to make it fall out faster.

I'd follow the others' suggestion of see a doc.

If you decide against that:

How old are you? Are you at an age where you'd expect balding?
Does balding run in the family?
Have you changed shampoos recently?
Diet?
