How much life do you think there still is in the BX platform?

I have an Abit BX6 r.2 running a PIII450@528 (all I could get out of it). My strategy is to put a PIII 700E in there get another 128M's and a Geforce2 MX... I figure with this strategy my computer will last me another year to 1.5 years (it's already 1.5 years old). By this time the DDR platform will have matured...

For those of you still clinging to your BX's what are your plans?

I've got an Abit BX6R2 board, and I just upgraded to a Celeron2 633@979. I think I'll be happy with this for another 3 to 6 months. I'm also interested in the DDR boards that will be coming out, but are too new to rate. I'll wait till the dust settles, then consider my next move.

Just bought a soyo 6ba+100 so I hope it lasts me a couple years. Of course it replaced a 6ba+4 which was only a year old. What the heck Gave it to my boy.

Also runnang a BX6R2, just upgraded from a C300a/450 to a PIII-800/936MHZ. This should keep me out of the stores for another two years or so. I'm basically good to go with the apps I'm currently and planning on using.

BX is still a very strong platform and clocks very well, especially if you can be satisfied with the speeds you can reach up to ~133 bus speed... it's probably not worth a major upgrade until DDR and next generation Chips come out... your "strategy" will most likely keep your system respectable until the new stuff matures and becomes price reasonable...

Future plans for my BX (well, GX, but eh... similar enough)? I have added another processor (dual slot 1 setup) so that its dual 300@450, and use it as a secondary comp for RC5, burning CDs, and just being there for whoever needs to use it.

Yeah, its fast enough to be my primary comp, but I already have one of those. 😀

I am running an Abit BX6r2 with a Celeron 566@850 (as you can see below) and hope to soon have it at 952 once my PC133 ram gets here so I think it will definately hold me over until the DDR systems get settled and become mainstream(probably 6mo - 1year).
