how much is too much?

just a technical question.

when using arctic silver - exactly how much should you use? I have an athlon 64 3200+ and stock heatsink and fan. I put a generous dose on there and spread it with a credit card, then installed my heatsink and fan.

I'm running a MSI K8N Neo Platinum mobo and my temps are off (I think this is normal, because other people are experiencing the same problem).

I just want to make sure that I didn't OD on Arctic Silver. Just for the record my current temps are 62C I believe which doesn't seem right because the heatsink gets warm, but it should be scalding hot at that temp. Perhaps it's just the mobo. I'm just worried about it.

Anyone have any advice or similar experiences that could lend some advice?
