Chimay is already expensive so $9.75 is a decent price at a restaurant/bar.

WTF did you pay 9.75 for ONE bottle of beer? The most expensive I've SEEN one is $5.

I take it you've never been to a bar in NYC.

or a strip club huh? My limit completely depends on the place and situation.

ya they are expensive

It has a higher alcohol content than most typical beer. 9% compared to ~4% for most.

I paid $7 for a beer once, but I think <$5 is reasonable. Now mixed drinks, those are sometimes ridiculously priced.

True that. Too many times I've gone into bars with over $100 and next morning my wallet is empty

I think I may have paid $5 or so once for a Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. If I find a beer that looks interesting I may ask how much it is but usually I'll try it at least once. I wouldn't sit there drinkin $20 beers all night though.

I don't know how bars are still operational up there.

I find Montreal one of the cheapest places to have a beer in Canada. We'd just grab a beer at a grocery store and sit on the library steps on St. Denis Street. We'd brown bag it with everyone else on a Saturday night. The cops would come around once in awhile. We'd leave and then come back. It was a fun place to kick back.

Domestic beers - $3-4
Import/Premiums - $4-5

Sporting events and other places of entertainment, $6-9 easy per beer.

I was at a bar in Memphis a few weeks back (I believe it was called the Flying Saucer) and they had several beers for $30. I think they were from Rogue.

On thing Ive found is that cheaper beers tend to be a worse deal compared to stuff like miller light when buying at bars vs liquor stores. Ive seen stuff like Old Style going for 4 bucks a bottle while guinness going for 5 bucks...The extra buck isnt going to kill me.

Most at a store Ive spent is something like $21 for 4 beers....Goose Island Boubon County Stout. Now that stuff has some kick

Wow almost ten bucks a bottle? I was miffed when he raised the price of Icehouse from $1 to $1.50 at a bar here. :D

But I don't think I'd pay more than $3 for a bottle unless I made quite a bit more money than I do now.

Howdy partner! Where is here? It sounds like you have the only sane beer prices around.

Considering it's Chimay it was probably worth it. I haven't gotten up the balls to plunk down the change required to get a bottle of Chimay yet. I think the most I've spent on a bottle of beer (22 oz) is $7-8 which was probably Allagash or Duvel.

I paid $25 for a bottle of Chimay Grand Reserve last time I bought one, that being said, it was a 1.5 liter bottle :)
