Yes with the sofware, a good price. The only problem is video memory, you will only be able to do word processing with that type of a machine....

i've got a p3-700, 128mb ram, 4mb rage mobility graphics and i play diablo 2 on it with no probs. i even had unreal tourney going for a bit. were the graphics great? no. but it worked. the controls were more of an issue than the ability for the machine to handle it. it's amusing when ppl say "all you can do is word processing on it!!!"

my laptop is used for gaming, dvd movies, mp3 playing (on vacation right now listening to some tunes and getting ready to relax in the jacuzzi, maybe watch a movie later), tracking my dvds, surfing the web, streaming movies, ripping mp3s, working on my website and yes, even some word processing. i don't have a desktop machine, this is it.

oh yeah, you asked a question. hehe. :)

yeah i'd think if it's in good condition that 950 would be fair. i was pricing used laptops and for that price i was seeing lesser machines (i was looking at the thinkpads exclusively tho). for reference the p3-700 thinkpad i just bought cost me around $2000. if you hit the search engines for 'used laptop' there were more than a few companies that you can use to compare.

the only thing i'd add is another 64mb of ram (at least, if not 128).

Well my home rig that is in my sig is for gaming and stuff. But I haven't played any hard core fps' in a few months and am kind of stepping away from that. Plus I'm thinking of a career change from being a game tester (since I have the option of moving over to marketing) and thinking of aactually using my economics degree. Basically, I'm thinking of parting out some stuff from my desktop rig, get a laptop that can play a few games here and there, nothing serious.
