how much is this laptop worth?

bought this laptop a few months ago it has a 160gig harddrive, 1.5g RAM, 1.8 athlon x2 processesor, 15.4 inch widescreen...its black with the with HP scribbles design on top of it..all the media buttons including volume are touch buttons i guess is what they are called..anyways i never use it and was wondering what i should ask for it because i dont really remember what i paid for it and cant find an exact match like it for sale...thanks for the help

Price checks aren't allowed, but I suggest you try searching 'Completed' listings on eBay for the same or similar laptop models. That is the best way to estimate a fair market price. -jpeyton

not sure price checks are allowed on the forum. but you might be able to get a better idea by searching ebay. i'd venture to guess retail price subtract 15-20%

You may post this to the Merchandise and Shopping Forum. Basically, used equipment is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it. My personal rule of thumb is 50% of the MSRP as soon as it walks out the door. You can always check prices on E-Bay.

50% seems a little harsh.. but depreciation does happen. well, unless its a macbook.. those tend to hold their value more than others. i've even read, strangely enough, a person can get more for it if they still have the box for it too 😕
