2005 Infiniti G35 Sedan RWD (NOT AWD)
~25k miles
Fully loaded w/ Premium Package, Nav, Premium Wheels.
Excellent condition, single owner
Price: Between 26,000 - 27,000 (+ Taxes)

Opinions pls. Also, any other similar car in the same price range ?

EDIT:
btw, i offered 26k max.
Seller wants $27k min.
difference of 1k and I know that the seller will give in at ~26-26.5k (but I am having 2nd thoughts on whether I was paying too much...).

a brand new 2006 base G35 w/ sunroof only can be had for ~27-27.5k + TTL.

What I meant was whether I was paying too much for this car at ~26-27k (or should it be cheaper)?? I wanted to know if the car is worth that much $$$ ?

Private party is ~28k

KBB is the sellers best friend.

Real money on that car is about $5000 less than than that asking.

Duh? Jeez you ask a question, and then flame when you get a response? I dont see anywhere in your OP you mentioning that you already checked kbb.

Unbeleivable.

www.carquotes.com

it uses black book, which is what a TON of dealers use.

gives a fairly good estimate

TMV (edmunds) does a pretty good estimate as well.

use all 3, and then look on ebay, and any other place you feel like and see what the asking prices are there.

$5k less than what KBB value ?

1) Trade in ?
2) Private Party ?
3) Suggested Retail ?

The seller was originally asking 29k for it and I laughed at him.....

HIGH wholesale on the car is $22k, and that's with less miles than your unit at hand. If he's asking $27k, he's $5000 off.

I can go to Daytona and look at NMAC repos that are 2005's and they'll do $18-22k, depending on miles and condition. Granted, you're in the city by the bay and I'm in central FL, but for $5000 difference - I'd say it might be worth looking into.

Thanks. What do you think is the max i should go ? (i am in the SF Bay area). I am thinking sticking to my initial offer of 26k max (I think this is little on the higher side also but the car is super clean, single owner and very well maintained).

he was initially asking 29k and last time i talked, he was saying 27k. I think he still owes like ~28k or so on the car. The guy is moving to the east coast, that is the reason he is selling.

btw, those values that you are giving me (high wholesale of ~22k), is that a base 2005 w/ sunroof only or is that a fully loaded car with navi and premium package (i figured ~1k for navi and ~1k for premium package extra...so 22k + 2k = ~24k auction value)

In the dealerships I've talked to, they've used NADA for a more "accurate" quote. Apparently, KBB uses averages from CA and FL is what I was told. Not sure how much truth there is to that, but NADA seems to give slightly lower values for used cars and has more options to select from which might be a better negotiating tool for you.

Thanks...NADA is giving ~25k for Trade in...so my offer for ~26k should be good ? Should I settle for anywhere between 26k and 27k (say 26.5k ?)

nada trade in: 23475; base 21925

nada retail: 26750; base 25050

Anything around (slightly above) 26k would be an average deal if the car is in great shape. If he tries to trade it into the dealer, he'd most likely get less than 23k.

I am getting a Trade in of 25000 at Nada (2005 G35 Sedan, navi, bose, sunroof). How are you getting 23.5 ?

Btw, i am in the Consumer section (dont have userid/pw for business section :( )

Most private sellers are morons desperate to get out of a payment and significantly overprice what their car is worth. Trade in is around $22.5k.

I'd offer 24k. With the '07's out, the current gen values are dropping fast. If he doesn't like it, ask him what Carmax will give him.

You are paying too much. 2006 is the last model year of the current G#%, therefore dealers are offering rebates/incentives of up to $8k to move the sedans off their lots curretnly as they are getting in '07s.

This was advertised in the Sacramento Bee over the weekend at the local Infiniti dealer.

Thanks. I will do that and tell him that I will give him $200 more than whatever Carmax will give him. There is no way i am giving him 27k for it. I was thinking 26k but I dont think that I will even offer him that much anymore. Max I am willing to do now is 25k (and that also only if the car is in pristine condition).

The best I have gotten so far is ~7k off MSRP on a new 06 and thats still ~27k for a base w/ sunroof only.

If i can get 8k off MSRP, I will gladly take a new 06. *heads to check Sacramento bee* Can you provide me a link to that AD ? TIA.

i wouldn't call KBB inflated at all. it's a much more realistic predictor of selling price than edmunds.

I would Love to sell all my cars at KBB Private Party Values (Even at Good or Fair condition for KBB when my car is in excellent).
