Michigan, or Miami? Both over $1 million, Carr closer to 1.5. College coaches tend to have large incentives built into their contracts, puching the total potential package up. Base salary rarely over $500K.

carrol and the football program get USC so much money that paying him that much is fine with the program

No, he's getting $2 million with those included. When you sign the contract, the base salary is pretty low, but things like media deals are included within it. Bob Stoops is the highest paid coach in college, at about 2.5 million. Last year Saban got one dollar more than him for winning the NC, nice incentive.

I had to re-read that. I thought you said he earned one dollar more for winning the NC. Not much of an incentive if that were true.
