Is replacement normally needed for this part or a through cleaning will do?

How much it generally costs to replace/clean this part?

I try to clean it first. On a lot of cars they will get gunked up easy. That and the gasket can leak as well

The part cost...

Rockauto $85 (with auto trans)
AsvanceAuto $79 (print page out at partsamerica.com if you buy at Advamce to get good price)

Looks like it has 2 bolts to hold it, 1 vacuum line, and 1 electrical harness. Should be be near the throttle body and not to hard to replace.

Hey, how do you know the detail so well? Do you happen to own the same car?

Nope, but was a auto tech that ran my shop at one time. That and rockauto.com has nice pictures and i know what each part looks like to where it goes. :)

I replaced one on my 89 Prelude last summer. It was incredibly easy - the valve was right on top of the motor, with nothing in the way. I completed the job in less than half an hour, never having done one before. Yours is probably similar.

No. Mine is underneath the throttle body. Took me 3hrs to work on it. I had to take off the throttle body and what not to get to it. The vaccum hose attached to idle valve was a bitch to remove. THe car is running smoother now but I still experience occassional low RPM when coming to a stop...guess I should have just replaced it.

IAC's are easy on most cars. Toom me about 5 minutes on my 91 GTA
