how much is a Windows ME COA worth?

I was walking through the neighborhood today and noticed someone set some junk cases out on the curb and I tore off the winME COA on one case. How much is it worth?

Also are different product keys interchangeable? I have a 2001 laptop with WinME Jap COA (though actually I have 2k installed for my use). If I sell this laptop with that COA, can I give the buyer a CDR of WinME Eng (and let them use the jp key) or am I allowed to give only WinME Jap CDR? And I assume there would be no trouble if I just swapped COAs on the laptop and gave them the English cd? This isn't a big deal, I'm just curious

1) price checks are not allowed, by Forum policy

2) an OEM COA is permanently married to the computer it was adhered to. So the answer is, it's not worth anything without that computer.

You'd be better off leaving the COA on the case next time, and picking up any aluminum cans that are lying around.

I would suggest you read the OEM COA license very carefully. I can't speak to Windows ME, but I did find that certain model Compaq PCs with Windows 2000 COAs allowed for a "one time transfer" to another machine with all software/rights/manuals/media/etc. But I would suspect that this is highly dependent on the terms of each OEM so don't make any assumptions - read the fine print! ;)

There's actually no fine print to read, this is just a COA sticker not one of those Windows Handbook / COA combos.

Is there actually a way to track a Product Key or UPC from a COA to find out what hardware it was attached to? Out of curiosity, if someone got a system with an OEM XP, installed it on different hardware and never activated it on the parent hardware, would it pass through the MS activation process ok? (regardless of whether or not that's allowed by the license)
