How much in assets would you need to consider a prenup?

I'm sure one could google a boilerplate prenup, especially if one has $0.00 to protect! 😉

None. My fiancée is a law student. I'd be screwed if I ever had a reason to need a prenup. If anything, a prenup would work heavily against me....

Don't you remember the Chris Rock bit? "If you got 20 million, and she takes half, so what! You ain't starvin'! Now if you make thirty thousand, and she takes half...you might just have to kill her!"

I would always get a prenup regardless of how much money I have.

a) That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Maybe you're thinking prenups cover assets attained after marriage, which they don't.

b) Shot in the dark here... but you aren't married, are you?

I find this reasonable.

I've always been a fan of them, and that everybody should have one.

Now that I have been thinking about it with my current gf, I've been questioning the whole prenup deal. I don't know if it really matters though. Besides they don't always stand up in court, I don't have a lot of stuff/money to protect right now. Granted I won't be getting married anytime soon, and expect that situation to change, I still don't know about *needing* her to sign one anymore.

If I own a house I would get a prenup though, and right now the main reason I would want one is to help protect my retirement account.
