First things first, system specs:
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe motherboard
Athlon 64 3200 (Winchester)
1 Gig Corsair PC3200 DDR (dual channel)
2 x BFG 6600GT (SLI)

So would you guys think it'd be worth it to go from a 6600 GT SLI setup to a single 7900 GS? I am thinking there would be an improvement. But I wonder how much? What do you guys think? To be honest with you I'm a little put off by the whole SLI experience I've had so far. Nvidia can't seem to get the drivers right or something because I experience frequent lock ups and game crashes even running at stock speeds.

there will be a great improvement.. two 6600GTs doesnt even perform as well as a 6800U and a 7900GS is much faster than a 6800U.

In games where SLi doesn't do well there will be night and day diff. In other games the diff should still be noticeable especially after overclocking.

Anyway, at what settings do you currently play your games?

I play most everything at the native resolution of my LCD monitor which is 1280x1024. Or if the game doesn't support that I use the closest thing to it which is usually 1280x960. Other settings vary as far as AF and AA. Usually I don't go over about 2x AA if I use it at all.

How would a 7900 GS perform on Oblivion at these settings you think? I can play most areas well enough with my current set up but it definitely chugs and chops around Oblivion gates and stuff.
