How much (if any) should I charge?

This is kind of a sticky situation for me.

I'm working at an internship doing web design and one of their clients has been in communication with me regarding changes to their website. The client asked me if she could give my email address to a friend who needed some help with a web site. Long story shortened, I told her it was cool because I didn't want the company to look bad (dumb move?) and her friend has asked in every email how much I will charge to get her site online.

From what I've seen, it will involve changing the files from a publisher format and uploading them, then updating the DNS info...

The kind-hearted side of me is saying just do it and make myself and the company look good, but the experienced side of me knows that people have a tendency to leech of suckers with kind hearts.

What to do, what to do...

approximate the actual time it will take to do it and multiply it by a competitive rate. Somehwere in the 25-50/hr range. If its real simple just figure on like $100...its something in your pocket and doesnt break them. Always make it sound like you are giving them a deal. If it is some huge project then the 100 is way off but I think you get the picture.

If it is just someone's personal site and will be a quick job, charge $20 or $25. If it is for a business, charge your normal rate.
