How much idle time for trim?

So how long does a computer need to sit idle for trim to do its thing?

I have a samsung 830 in my rig and i let it idle for 2 hours before entering sleep mode. Too much or not enough?

trim is instant on most any SSD. You seem to be asking about garbage collection I assume?

Haven't tested the Sammy but I would imagine that if the on-the-fly recovery were poor?(meaning that idle time was required).. it would have been reviewed as such and others here would not be maintaining that it's the best thing since sliced bread. After Intel of course. lol

If you install the magician software, you can manually run TRIM and garbage collection, a process which takes 3 minutes.
