36" tube - ? Maybe $300? Over 7 years old.
That's it for my TV.

My computer monitor (19" ~$300) and speakers (Swan M200 $180) add up to more.

add another $700 for the PS2 and stuff
Don't you find the placement of your mains a little high?

wife won't let me put them any place else...they actually sound pretty good where they are at, but I have not experimented trying to place them at ear level...wonder if I angle them downwards a bit would make any difference...

Rotel 960 BX amp x 2 = $ 250 ($1200)
Rotel RC-1070 Preamp = $ 500 ($600)
Sony DVP-S9000ES DVD/SACD Player = $500 ($1800)
Aiwa XK-S9000 cassette deck #1 = $600 ($1100)
Technics RS-M253X cassette deck #2 = $ 25 ($380)
Teac C3RX cassette deck #3 = $150 ($1000)
Sony TCK-620 cassette deck #4 = $30 ($350)
Acoustic Research AR302 Speakers = $400 ($1200)
Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3 bookshelf speakers (for bedroom) = $300 ($300)
Sony SCD-CE775 SACD/CD Player = $150 ($380)
Sony CDP-C535 CD player = $100 ($300)
Sony RDR-HX900 DVD recorder / PVR = $200 ($800)
Sony SLV32M1 32" LCD HDTV = $1300 ($2100)
Sony GX-808ES receiver (used as tuner) = $225 ($1000)
PC has Terratec DMX6 Fire 24/96 = $150 ($250)
Technics SL - 1400 Turntable #1 = $75 ($400)
Rega Planer 3 turntable #2 = $400 ($700)

So retail price: $13,860
My cost (assembled over years, and lots of bargain hunting in the mix too): $5355

As a note, only the Aiwa and Technics decks are in use at the moment, the other two are upstairs in the closet.
The older sony CD player is also in the closet (the C535) -- it's semi flaky now, always stays powered on / doesn't shut off.
The Sony receiver long ago was used as an amp for me, till I upgraded to the Rotel gear, then I kept it to be used as a radio tuner.

The Aiwa deck is a bit of a collectors item now, one recently sold on ebay for $1300, and in 1992 when it first came out, Audio Magazine hailed it as the "Best-Ever Cassette Deck"
-- it's overengineered up the wazoo.

Friends, ebay, thrift stores, audiogon, and the audio asylum are your friends.

Oh, and yes, I know whomever I marry is going to justify their clothes and jewelry spending habits by pointing at my electronics and cars -- I'll never win those arguements unless I sell some of this stuff!

Then it must be because the photos of you two would not be visible if they weren't on the bottom shelf. Are you guys dwarves? :D
