I would expect the low end watch market to die. I expect no change in the high end watch market (at least not from cell phones)

I don't wear a watch. Nor any jewlery. I personally find such practices to be pointless.

I do use my mobile phone to tell the time. But, I stopped drapping my body in fancy metals well before mobile phones came about.

a watch is not like typical jewelry; it's engineered and not merely crafted, so it's got this innate masculine appeal. and it's pretty functional.

My watch battery died about a month ago, and I haven't gotten around to getting a new battery yet. In the meantime, I've been using the cellphone.

Pretty well the only time I wear a watch now is when I'm going camping in the boondocks or so, where I won't have the phone :p

I'm sure there's been a drop. My watch is more of an accessory than anything.

I don't know much about it myself but I don't think dive watches are going away anytime soon, so there's always going to be a market for them.

Also, military watches are in style now but the true military watches were also pretty damn functional and reliable.

a phone is now a flashlight, camera, watch and compass, almost the ideal camping multi-tool.

I had to fly to San Fran 2 weeks ago on business. Sat next to a guy with a nice Movado.

A good watch stands out now more than ever in my opinion.

Beyond the first 20$ it is just typical jewelry. The rest is just an excuse guys use to wear jewelry.

you can't even get a decent mechanical watch for less than a few hundred bucks. if you go into the multi-k range, than yeah I agree.
