My phone completely replaced my watch

I can only think of two of my friends who still wear watches. One is a personal trainer, the other an outdoor education t.a

I feel naked without a watch on.

I use to feel that way, but no one gives a shit when I walk into work, and I'm usually not in a hurry for anything. If need be, I check the time on my phone.

It just got annoying to me that I had some metal strap attached to my wrist all the time. No, I don't wear jewelery.

Watches that cost more than $20 have never been for telling time. They're fashion.

Casio's watch line might be hurting, but decent watchmakers are probably doing no worse than the rest of the luxury economy. They're certainly not afraid of Apple and Samsung.

I finally got around to replacing my last watch that broke this summer. For the most part, my cellphone had replaced the watch when it broke. However, I think a nice simple watch looks sharp and it's easier to glance at the time.

I used to wear a Casio databank watch, but since I started using smartphones in, I want to say the late 90's, I haven't worn a watch.

Cell phone completely replaced my watch years ago. Aside from carrying a cheapo watch for simple time keeping on extra long runs, I don't even own a watch.

yea now its simple or nothing, figuring out what button combos on some casios do what is a pain. had one that auto set itself from the radio time signal, had analog and digital, which is neat. but once the daylight savings time change came around trying to remember how to set it right again was just a horrible chore.

I have owned a couple of expensive watches (Omega, Rolex) purchased 10+ years ago. I don't wear them & don't expect to ever wear them again. I am keeping them hoping that I will be able to sell them as antiques sometime in the future.

Probably enough for watch companies to stoop to the low level of spamming my inbox every day for me to buy one.

I used to wear a watch in school and as a kid as I was kind of all over the place where there was not always a clock, especially when I was out with friends after school. Now I don't really have a need for one. I have a clock in my car, at work there's lot of clocks (none of them are actually at the same time though) and at home I have plenty of clocks too. And overall, I usually don't care about the time anyway, it's not like when I was a kid and had to be home for a certain time. If I'm out with people I don't really care what time it is.

Never got into watches even before cellphones. Never understood why someone would want to carry extra weight on their wrist all day. I have one of those fancy weather-forecasting watches for hiking, that's it. Everything else is on the cell.

So you're saying that posh watches are for effete fashionistas?

Yeah, I think you may have something there. :sneaky:

One day I was sitting on the tarmac reading SkyMall and came across this:

I knew I'd never wear a watch again. I fear someone would gaze upon my timepiece and imagine that I had also bought one of the above items and I could not bear that.

I don't usually wear a watch because it can be a snag hazard at work. I use my cellphone to keep track of time, therefore.

I do have a nice-ish watch (~$350) that I keep to wear as an accessory when I'm gettin' all dudded-up, though.

I don't wear a watch. Nor any jewlery. I personally find such practices to be pointless.

I do use my mobile phone to tell the time. But, I stopped drapping my body in fancy metals well before mobile phones came about.
