How much has the 'Hot Deals' Forum saved you?

The hot deals forum saved me money yesterday, too bad it cost me $1700 in the process 🙁 I spent $1700 yesterday on 3 hot deals (the most expensive one was $22)...

The hot deals are so hot they leave me broke 🙁

It's everyone's main complaint about the Hot Deals Forum. You save so much... yet the more you save, the more you spend.

New math?

No, you see, the reason he spent $1700 is because he's bad at math. Instead of buying 3 items at about $20 each, he just threw a few hundred dollars to these companies on each purchase. "Amazon wants $10 for this book. I think I'll pay them $1,000 instead"

Or, he bought more than one. A LOT more than one. Dozens, in fact...

The Hot Deals forum has easily saved me over $5,000 when you consider all the deals I participated in, which are a lot of them.

The best deal ever was the free $400 from MSN, sign up for 3 year ISP committment then receive a free $400 instore credit from Best Buy, Office Depot and other stores. Picked up a Brother HL-1240 ($299) laser printer and other goodies walked out of the store paying $0.00

😀

The Hot Deals forum makes my head spin.

I want to walk in/log on, pay one price, & walk out. I don't want to have to pricematch, send in rebates, or give the store manager manual stimulation.

Same here, and now that I've got my spending under control, I only jump in on the deals that I need. Not the ones that end up with me having over 600 CD-R's sitting in my closet.😱

"or give the store manager manual stimulation."

LOL

the worst I had to do was cybersex with a PR for staples😉

Ditto, which is why I only go in for deals where theres just a cheap price and you don't have to do anything special to get it.

To answer the original question: I've lost about $200 from the hot deals forums from buying stuff I wouldn't have bought otherwise. It's been worth it though... I think.

For those of you who's head spins when you read the Hot Deals forum I'd be more than happy to help out. Just PM me your questions (along with the Hot Deals thread URL it pertains to), please be as detailed as possible and I'll try my best to interpret from Ferengi Jargon to Normal Every Day Talk.

Saved a bunch on some digital photo stuff (Kodak DC4800 for $362, 128M compact flash for $80, Epson 875DC for $50!), total of about $300-400 just on these items. But the best info so far has been the suggestion to get the Amex Blue card. The best value guarantee works everytime and you don't get all sloppy from that manual stimulation routine🙂. The blue card can actually get you better prices than those on the HD forum because you can shop for a site w/ free shipping and no tax then shop for a site w/ the absolute lowest price and get the difference back (blue only looks at the item cost, not shipping or tax). It's usually cheaper than a B&M PM because no tax or "you have to pay for equivalent shipping" charges. My 2c.

Compared to what I get paid hourly at work and the time I spent at the Hot Deals forum I don't know what it saved. Let me go back to the hot deals forum now.

Yeah, I thought about that but then I heard a couple of horror stories from people using it and decided I can just type the card number in whenever I use it. BTW, with an 18 month old daughter, I don't get to use it (the card that is) much any more, damn diapers 🙂.

Tons. Matter of fact, I'm on a first name basis with all the managers at Staples....

They probably only remember me because they lost ballpark of $300 in merchandise on that printable $10 off of $10 to my family.

AMEX Blue for Students denied me, stating that I had too many new credit cards in the past 6 months and too many credit checks in the past 6 months. I got 2 CC in the span of 1 month and probably had 4-5 credit checks in the past 6 months. Why do they lower your credit rating for every credit check that is performed? Also, after how many purchases would you have Good credit, in terms of a dolar amount. Ive spent about 750 on my Discover and paid in full each month.
