How much FREE ram do you boot with???!?!?

hey all,

i have 448 ram, and am booting up with 326.. does that seem about right for 2k,

Just norton starts up in sys tray, 29 processes..!

how many do you guys have, and does this seem about right!?....

im just on reinstall before my scsi drive comes in so i dont have anything. 87mb. i have pused it to 560mb before, preimere, photoshop and some other stuff open at the same time. 326 is alot for just an idle system!! i dont see how u can use that much. win os only takes like 64...

its using like 125 megs at boot up.. you think that about right?

125 is good. on a normal system, i usually do 160. thats with like all my essentials on.

I am not at my computer rightnow but I could swear on mine with 2k it only uses around 60 at bootup. I know here at work we have all kinds of crap running and they boot using around 120 and with only 128 to begin with they aint to speedy .

well i have 320 megs, and 208 megs is in use now with IE open (8 megs) so, about 104 megs free in win2k after bootup

dang... what are you people running? I'm going on 123MB(256MB) used with winamp, ie, MBM5,UD,Yahoo running. My DVD box at start is using 68MB(320MB).

IE is taking up 11MB of that... damn hog.

29 processes that seems kinda high....

there is no Msconfig in 2k-> isn't services like that.. disable processes from starting?

I boot with 256 MB in Windows 98SE and have 204 MB free, nothing opened yet. I only have Zonealarm, Innoculate, and the Compaq bay swap software running. I think I will look into putting 512 MB in this laptop if it is possible.

i am getting rid of my 64 chip soon.. and going to 512.. or 640..
