In the market for a new car. Was thinking about a civic EX coupe, but anyone out there know how much an SE-R will cost?

no official word on the price yet, just lots of speculation.
i think somewhere nissan mentioned the all-important 1st digit of the price... a 1. so they are aiming for below 20 g's.

either way, it'll smoke the civic EX and it's puny 140hp?? wutever engine. and the word is that the quality of the civic is not up to the usual honda standards in this generation of the civic.

try em both out. we won't know about the Spec V until it actually comes out. price and weight and HP (they may tweak to 185hp, as opposed to 180hp) will be the largest factor. i'll be sure to test drive the spec-V (once i learn stick), or at least the SE-R.

Spec V is around $18,000 - 20,000
SE-R will probly cost several thousand less than Spec-V

127 hp ;)

Is that so? Yeah I've been hearing myself that the US built hondas kind of went downhill recently also, but my parents have an '01 4 dr civic LX and mechanically it seems ok so far. Obviously no long term reports yet and it's been through one recall so far. Interior feels a little chintzy, I can actually flex some of the interior door panels.

Sorry for the confusion, so V spec is like another notch above the plain jane SE-R? Both will be around next year right? It's too bad there is no 2 door sentra.

oh yeah, my bad... the 140 something was the Si, and that'll still get smoked.
lets not even go into how the SE-R will spank the EX.
i read that the plasticky materials used in the interior was very tacky. haven't been in a new civic yet.

the SE-R has a 2.5 liter 170hp engine
the SE-R Spec V gets 180 or 185hp with the same engine, but with a tuned exhaust system or something. it also gets LSD, bigger rims, Rockford Fosgate sound system and a whole bunch of other goodies. definitely get the Spec V if you can drive manual and find one. it'll only be a thousand or so more than the SE-R.

both should be available by fall of this year. keep your eyes open, i can't wait :)

oh, don't mean to correct you or be picky, but it's dubbed Spec V, not V Spec. the V Spec is specially reserved for the one and only Nissan Skyline. Nissan felt Spec V should only be associated with the Skyline and nothing else. I had to get used to saying Spec V myself :)

I can't wait for this car... and even though I've only driven a manual car once, I would definitely get the 6-spd Spec-V.

Here are some high quality pictures of the new Sentra. Looks awesome! And the price should be very appealing.

That's pretty sweet. Nissan's are pretty good. I'll have to check these out if they come out with another one of those "testdrive deals". hehe

the only complain i have is with the rear end. if they could fix it up a little, it's the lights or something...

I am looking at either the SE or SE-R as my first car. I think the Spec-V will be just out of my price range.

Maybe, maybe not. It's still a four-door sedan with a four-cylinder engine. Obviously, the insurance will run more than the lower-end Sentras but when I was shopping for cars, Nissan wasn't as bad as some manufacturers like Mitsubishi.

I too am anxiously waiting for the SE-R or Spec-V. However it will probably be $30K CDN, and that's a little too much for me. I was hoping it would replace my aging Corolla.
