How much for a car alignment?

I went in for an oil change and tire rotation, and they would not rotate my tires because they said I had an alignment issue.

I've known something might have been wrong as the tread on my tires aren't wearing evenly on the front. I called up my local mechanic and he said it would cost $50 to align it. Is this pretty accurate?

I have an Acura RSX 2004.

$50 is uber-cheap. I paid $100, but that was for a place that does really good aggressive, yet streetable configs based on your car, weight, style of driving and so on. Now that I have the numbers, I can take it in to the cheap place and get them to duplicate them.

Around here in NJ, Euro Tiire does a 4 wheel alignment for about $80
But when done, it is always dead on.

If you plan on keeping the car for a while, I've had good luck with Firestone's "Lifetime Alignment". You pay a little more than double the normal cost once, but have an unlimited number of alignments over the life of the car. I even do this with my 951 (especially since you can't rotate the tires on it because of sizing differences between front and rear). I just go in once a year and have the car aligned. As long as you own the car, they will re-align it for free.

I have a life time tire rotation / wheel alignment with my town fair tire.

I usually go in for a rotation, alignment, and balance, which I only get charged $40 or $50 for the balancing.

50 bucks sounds like drive wheel alignment only, you'll want a 4 wheeler.

+1, make sure it's a 4 wheel alignment.

Mine is usually between $100 and $200 but I get race specific settings.

Last time I did my truck, it was $60 at my local Goodyear. That was a 4-wheel alignment, with the laser thingies (scientific term, ya know? 😉 ) that clamped onto the wheels. Guaranteed for 1 year, take it back anytime for re-alignment. 🙂

I think I paid about 87.00 or something like that on a 86 Camaro... it's worth it though. Saves on tires, makes it easier to steer

Thanks to all that replied! I have no idea what I should be paying for things so you guys helped clear that up a bit.

I'll make sure it's for all 4 wheels.
